Paw-paw fruit, per pound
Fresh paw-paws, for pick-up only. Price is per pound.
(if you would like to purchase less than a pound, please write to me at stephanie@blooming-burbs.com. We'll work something out!)
It's paw-paw season! As I harvest, I will update this listing. So, if you see that the paw-paws are sold out, check back. It very likely means I've sold the current stock and will be harvesting more as fruit is ready to pick.
I pick paw-paw when it is just starting to ripen. I like to eat them at that stage, but others wait until they are very brown. The taste changes considerably as they ripen, becoming more and more caramel-ly.
You can also cook them down a bit, add a little sugar and vanilla and eat them over vanilla ice cream (or you can just wait until I make paw-paw syrup).
Here are a couple of short videos that will give you some more info about how and at what stage of ripe to eat paw-paw:
And if you're interested even more information, like nutritional value, check out Kentucky State University's webpages about the fruit.
